Governor for Eastern Province Odette Uwamariya has revealed that residents, who misused animal farms given to them during land division, will be followed up and punished by the law.

Mrs. Odette Uwamariya stresses that many residents in eastern province, who were given land for livestock farming have divided it into settlement areas and selling them to neighbours.

Also, some residents have turned these farms cultivation fields and grow crops of their choice when the government program calls them to grow what is favoured by the area conditions, Uwamariya laments.

Governor Uwamariya asserts that although the number of the hectares of land that have been destroyed in the process, residents that misused farms for animal rearing will be punished because it is against land policy in Rwanda.

People who have already built houses in the farms will be asked to demolish them and those who sold the pieces of land will be taken before the law.
