Some of the farmers in Byimana sector in Ruhango district are worried due to their cows that no longer experience estrus period though they try everything even paying for the bulls from their neighbors for mating of which they pay Rwf2000.

This has caused delays and limitations in animal husbandry and in their social welfare as milk production decreased and even the quantity of manure they were getting decreased.
Innocent Bizimana the veterinary doctor of Byimana sector said that they stopped mating process of cows in this sector as a barrenness disease in cows was discovered.
Residents were sensitized to use artificial insemination in a campaign “campagne d’insemination”, which is passed through churches and in every community gathering but people still try to mate their animals though they are aware of the dangers involved.
Apart from low understanding on the use artificial insemination in this sector, Bizimana said that animal husbandry has been doing very well in this sector.
