The mayor of Burera District Samuel Sembagare said that about 50.000 families of vulnerable people got a cow in the government’s programme of one “cow per family”.
He added on saying that about 70.000 families in this district are supposed to get a cow in this pragramme which makes them remain with about 20.000 families to get it.
In this case, people that received such cows have to give a new born calf to another family which is making the programme go on easily.
Sembagare also added on saying that a cow was very useful to Burera residents since it helps them gain better living in their homes.
“A cow is like a factory from which people can get things like milk which they can still sell if it is much and be able to get money for other needs”, explained the mayor.
“A cow also gives the owners fertilizers they can use on their farms and therefore be able to get more production”, added on the mayor
He concluded saying that people with such cows should take good care of them so that they can be more productive to them.
